"Jilson Setters (James William Day) the Singin Fiddler," Photo 0479, undated- scanned A sepia toned photograph that shows a man wearing a long coat and a black hat. In his left arm he is holding a violin case and a basket with a gourd inside. In his right he is carrying a chair. The man is standing in front of a fence row and trees. In a note attached to the photograph it reads "Jilson Setters the Singing Fiddler on Lost Hope Hollow who appeared before the English Folk Song Society in Albert Hall London in 1932 will be the most glamorous and picturesque mountain minstrel to take part in the fifth annual AMERICAN FOLK SONG FESTIVAL Sunday June 9th at 2 pm at TRAIPSIN WOMAN cabin on May Trail. Jilson Setters is here shown as he set out from his cabin home for his voyage across the sea taking back- by word of mouth- the Elizabethan ballads which early Anglo-Saxons Brought from England into the wilderness or the new world centuries before."

There is handwriting in pencil on the back that reads "Emma Nunley Ashland Ky." A stamp is found in the lower right corner that has a NRA member logo with a eagle and reads "Jimenez Studio Reg. No. 16-1"

"Little Emmaline and Jamie singing Paper of Pins, a Scottisn flyting or answering back ballad," Photo 0478, undated- scanned Black and white image that shows a large crowd of people gathered on a long porch like stage in front of a log cabin. In the middle of the crowd are two small children sitting on a bench singing and performing. One is a little girl in a large hat and to her right is a boy with a guitar. There are signs on the cabin that reads "Traipson Woman" and "American Folk Song Society Presents (man blocking legibility)...Ifth American Song Festival."

"Uncle Abner and some of the original minstrels in the first Singin' Gatherin which become the American Folk Song Festival," Photo 0477 (back), undated- scanned Back of photograph 0477. There is handwriting in pencil on the back that reads "Gay Friel (?) Ashland Ky," crossed out "Emma Nunley Ashland Ky," and "Mountain minstrels who take an important part in the American Folk Song Festival." There is an stamp on the back with the NRA Member logo that reads "We Do Our Part Jimenez Studio Reg. No. 16-1"

"Uncle Abner and some of the original minstrels in the first Singin' Gatherin which become the American Folk Song Festival," Photo 0477, undated- scanned Sepia toned image that shows a group of singers standing in a field just before a row of corn. Some appear to hold instruments including a guitar a violin and a dulcimer. The group appears to be of various ages and there are two dogs sitting in the front. In an note attached to the photograph it reads: "Uncle Abner and some of the original minstrels in the first Singin' Gatherin which became the American Folk Song Festival. The player of the dulcimer is still taking part in the Festival." Catalogers Note, the instrument players pictured are: Bunyon Day [left-playing guitar] and Mountain Minstrels ["Uncle Tom West wearing hat & playing dulcimer" "Aunt West"]
